In this relatively short article related to cybersecurity I’ll present a couple words of advice related to our privacy and data sharing during the Covid-19.

Cybersecurity sharing data and safety advice

Cybersecurity Sharing Advice

In today’s digital age, many of us find ourselves spending a significant amount of our time on the Internet. However, it’s crucial to be aware of the various cybersecurity threats and challenges that lurk in the digital realm, particularly when sharing information, especially on social media platforms.

Furthermore, amid the challenges brought about by the current global situation, we may inadvertently divulge more of our personal information than we typically would.

With the preceding two paragraphs, I’d like to emphasize the importance of cybersecurity and why it warrants careful consideration before hitting that “send” button.

Cybersecurity is a multifaceted topic that can be viewed from a variety of angles:

  1. We can relate it to the security of our financial assets, particularly when dealing with banks.
  2. It extends to safeguarding the data stored on our smartphones, devices we carry with us most of the time.
  3. We must consider the information we share and the recipients of that data.
  4. It encompasses different forms of content across various media platforms.
  5. These are just a few aspects, and for those intrigued by the subject, I encourage you to explore some informative resources, such as:

Why Should We Ponder What, Where, and to Whom We Share?

Cybersecurity - What we share

n today’s hyper-connected world, our smartphones have become extensions of ourselves, leading us to share more data than ever before. Therefore, it’s essential to pause and consider a few pertinent questions before sharing:

  • Do I really need to share this information?
  • What are my current privacy settings?
  • Could sharing this potentially mislead anyone?

These questions are important for several reasons:

  • Sharing indiscriminately might inadvertently make us appear foolish, especially if we have a public image to uphold.
  • We may unintentionally reveal personal details like our whereabouts, daily routines, or even the appearance of our homes.
  • Misleading information, when shared, can influence people’s perceptions and beliefs, which becomes problematic when the information is false.
  • Sharing something inaccurate or misleading, even by accident, could subject us to backlash and negativity.

The points mentioned here are just the tip of the iceberg, and I acknowledge that they may have been presented in a somewhat scattered manner. I invite you to share your thoughts in the comments, suggest any valuable articles on the topic, and engage in a constructive debate. Cybersecurity is an evolving field, and together, we can navigate its challenges more safely.
